Lego Photo

I discovered this thanks to Neven Mrgan’s Tumbl and have since been having tons of fun Legofying all my photos. You can download Lego Photo for free from the App Store.

It's usually a quiet walk to Confusion Corner to catch the 66 in the morning. In a few months (or weeks) this walk will be a deadly obstacle course or ice and snow.

Caliber

I've been searching for more non-tech related sites lately, and discovered this great photoblog about San Francisco called Caliber. I've only been to San Francisco a couple times, but I love the way they are portraying the city, it seems very real and authentic.

I really like photo blogs that don't glamorize their subject, especially if the subject is a city. It would be all too easy to only show the pretty things, and brush over the gritty, dirty aspects. As cool as travel blogs are, they often suffer from this. As a tourist/traveller it's very easy to get caught up in the wonder of the city, and only focus on the beauty. I think this is why I also really enjoy Bryan Scott's site, Winnipeg Love/Hate

I'd love to show Winnipeg in this way. I think Bryan does a great job of showing the beauty and decay based on our architecture, but I'd like to do something along the lines of stuff that appears on Caliber. I will still need to get over my apprehension of photographing strangers.

bird over the city

bird over the city

I found this photo amonst a folder of rejected photos from a photowalk I did over a month ago. I don't know why I didn't notice it at the time, or why I skipped over it. It just goes to show that it pays off to go back through older photos for a second look.

Some times it's good to go through old rejected photos, they often make good candidates for more extensive photomanipulations.
